Job Vacancy: Weekend Personal Assistant/Carer for 20-Year-Old Male with Autism (RM6 Area)

We are seeking a dedicated and engaging carer to support a 20-year-old male with Autism in the RM6 area. The role involves 6 flexible hours per week, to be used over the weekend. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Autism, encouraging their interests, and helping them gain confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support and companionship to a 20-year-old male with Autism.
• Encourage and engage him in activities based on his interests, which include history, rock music, eating out and shopping
• Support with days out to exhibitions, events, and other activities in London and Essex.
• Offer guidance and support with using public transport and in crowds to increase independence and confidence.
• Occasionally work with the family to bank hours for larger, more extended days out if needed.
• Ensure safety during outings and activities and encourage client to use disabled bathroom when out in community

Key Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS certificate issued within the past 6 months.
• Clean UK driver’s license (as transportation may be required).
• A positive, proactive, and engaging approach to working with young people with Autism.
• Ability to work flexibly over weekends (6 hours per week, with potential for occasional larger days out).
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills to build trust and rapport.

Additional Details:

• The client’s Mum will be the employer through a Direct Payment arrangement.
• Rate of pay: £13.15 per hour.
• Family is willing to cover mileage expenses for travel for days out.
