Becoming a Buddy

Are you an outgoing young person interested in supporting disabled young people to get more involved in their local community?

Perhaps you are looking for rewarding work which gives you variety, flexibility and opportunities to share your hobbies and interests with a young person with special educational needs and disabilities?

Maybe you have a sibling with a disability and would like to use your knowledge and skills to help others with additional needs?

Or you could be a student wanting to find paid work experience around your studies whilst having fun at the same time?

If so… becoming a Buddy could be perfect for you! We are looking for fun, friendly and reliable people to join our Buddies Scheme.

The purpose of the scheme is for children and young with special educational needs and disabilities, to be matched with Buddies. Buddies will be employed by the family to support the young person to meet their aspirations, have fun and develop new interests, skills, friendships and connections in the community.

What qualifications do I need?

There are no specific qualifications required and a training assessment, based on individual needs, will be carried out as part of the matching process.

Our team will be here to support you along the way with access to relevant training, advice and guidance.

How do I become a Buddy?

Register and create your Buddy profile. To ensure the best match, remember to tell us about your interests and any relevant experience you have.

Then we’ll contact your given reference and invite you in for a DBS (criminal record background) and Right to Work checks. Once completed your profile will become live and you can be viewed as a potential Buddy.
