We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Support Worker to provide specialised care for a 10-year-old child with complex needs during holiday times and weekends. The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to support the child's unique requirements, including epilepsy care, personal care, and communication assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care: Assist the child with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Medical Support: Provide specialised care for the child's epilepsy, including administering medication as prescribed, monitoring seizures, and implementing seizure management protocols.
  • Communication Assistance: Utilise alternative communication methods to facilitate interaction and understanding, as the child is non-verbal. This may include picture boards, or assistive communication devices.
  • Emotional Support: Foster a nurturing and supportive environment for the child, promoting their emotional well-being and encouraging participation in activities that promote social interaction and self-expression.
  • Transportation: Ideally, possess a valid driver's licence and willingness to transport the child to appointments, outings, and recreational activities as needed.
  • Safety Monitoring: Remain vigilant and attentive to the child's safety at all times, implementing appropriate precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, including medication administration, seizure activity, and any notable changes in the child's condition.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs, preferably in a healthcare or educational setting.
  • Training in epilepsy management or willingness to undergo training provided by the employer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of individuals with special needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and adapt to the evolving needs of the child.
  • Valid driver's licence (preferred).

Salary: £11.45 per hour
