Make someone smile — become a Buddy

Are you an outgoing young person interested in working with disabled children and supporting young people to get more involved in their local community?

Are you looking for rewarding and paid work which gives you variety, flexibility and opportunities to share your hobbies and interests with a young person who has additional needs?

Maybe you are a student wanting to find paid work experience around your studies whilst having fun at the same time? Perhaps you have a sibling with a disability and would like to use your knowledge and skills by working with others who have special educational needs?

If so… becoming a LinkMeUp Buddy could be the perfect role for you! We are looking for fun, friendly and reliable people to join our  scheme.

You will be working closely with children that have additional needs, helping them to develop confidence and new interests. You will gain experience by supporting a young disabled person and helping them to access the local community, develop new skills, and become more independent.

Our matching service means that you will be paired with a young person who has similar interests to your own. You can show them all of the things that you love in the local community and help them to be involved in activities that they are passionate about.

Individual training and full support is available for all LinkMeUp Buddies who are working with disabled children and young people. You will learn a great deal and we will help you to develop skills for work and your future. You may even make a friend for life.

What qualifications do I need?

There are no specific qualifications required and a training assessment, based on individual needs, will be carried out as part of the matching process.

Our team will be here to support you along the way with access to relevant training, advice and guidance.

How do I become a Buddy?

Register and create your Buddy profile. To ensure the best match, remember to tell us about your interests and any relevant experience you have.

Then we’ll contact your given reference and invite you in for a DBS (criminal record background) and Right to Work checks. Once completed your profile will become live and you can be viewed as a potential Buddy.
